DOUBLE HOUSE (1996)
Renovation/Addition to an early 50's New England split-level home (Greenwich, Ct.)
A new modernist volume frames the social spaces of the existing white clapboard house
The front/public facade of the old house introduces the elemental forms and materials of the new house which becomes dominant on the rear/private facade.
The private spaces in the old house are further bridged by the new house and spanned by an exterior deck/terrace overlooking the site.
